How to increase file upload limit

I want to increase the upload limit on my website which is currently set at 8MB.

I have already gone to my hosting site and altered the code in the php.ini file (increasing the limit to 200MB). I have also added an extra line of code to the .htaccess file.

However when I try to upload a larger file in wordpress is still says that the upload limit is 8MB.

The problem is not that my hoster does not allow upload limits as large as 200MB because I have already contacted them and they have said it is fine.

Please help!
