• [Topic modified – not a multisite question]

Hi as i am new at WP i have a problem with such a thing.

I have a site www something working on wordpress. Now i need to instal and work with new template BUT while working with new template i want my readers to see an “old” site (based on template i have atm) not the one i’ll be working on.

After my work with “new one” will be done i just wanna switch them so that readers can see new ready and prepared layout of my website…

    Any ideas ?

This really isn’t a multisite issue. Please post in the appropriate forum.

You need to create a development site, to work out your new theme, then install & activate it to the main site.

You can install a separate installation of WordPress in a sub-directory – see:

Also, I’ve moved this thread – so no need to start a new one.

Ok i imagine the sub-directory proccess but then is it easy to switch one to the other ?

If you are only working on a new theme, and not a bunch of new content, then you don’t need to switch the complete site.

Just copy the directory with the new theme into the wp-content/themes directory of the old site, and then from within the WP dashboard, go to Appearance-Themes and activate the new theme.
