Thanks but I think you missed my point completely.
🙂
It’s already fixed, I did it myself without any help.
Is it ok to hit the post button, or will it kill my browser?
oh..for the poor idiots like myself who actually thought they could test a setting without destroying their blog: find the url record in the proper database table and set it back to the original state.
A piece of cake. Once you find it, you’ll slap yourself on the forehead and laugh about it. Look at it this way, your test, was successful (in its failure), and you now have empirical evidence that changing the URL to an address where your WordPress installation is not accessible, will yield a negative result. Actually, it may be temporarily inconvenient, but bless you for having the guts to try it. The knowledge you gain by fixing it will be valuable in the future.

I feel like the kid who put his finger in the fan just to see what would happen.

Are you comfortable with phpMyAdmin?
If so, here’s how.
1. From you cPanel or Plesk or whatever, get to phpMyadmin. in CPanel you go through mysql link and then phpmyadmin is at the footer.
2. Find you wordpress database. If you only have 1 database the process is similar, look for the table called wp_options. If you have changed the wp prefix, adjust accordingly.
3. Hit browse and look for a field (column) at the top called option_name and look for a value called site_url. For me, it’s the very first record (row). This is where you should see the url for your blog..edit it.
if you’re ensure don’t attempt this…and in either case always a good idea to backup your blog first.
