how to be a wordpress developer?????

hello every one. I’m new to wordpress development and i’m trying to
learn themes and plugins development since long time. does anyone have any advices for me may help me to start developing and building professional themes so i can get a job as wordpress developer?? all the books and youtube videos only teach the basics and nothing more than that. but what actually what i’m looking for is to do the “real world work that i can get paid for”

building themes is hard for me to do. i know php + html + css but i’m still struggling with wordpress theme development

WordPress.org’s forums are good for supporting you with issues like “How can I fix error on line 37”. Without specifying your issue there’s not much we can do to help.

To clarify, what parts of theme development are you familiar with and not familiar with? So that we can recommend more accurate resources.

i understand the wp loop and the css file as well as index.php
but the php tags in the rest of the files it’s hard for me to understand
their functionality

I’d recommend reading the Function Reference, then. Also, I’d recommend downloading a few themes and trying to figure out how they work.

There are plenty of WordPress theme tutorials out there. I know Ian Stewart helps run themeshaper with a few other themers.

They actually have an awesome tutorial on how to build a theme.
