• Hi,

I’m trying to increase the maximum upload size of a WordPress website, and looks like I need to create a php.ini file on the server, but I don’t know if I can have access to the server/root folder. Someone else built the website, and I have only been editing the contents and making small template changes on WordPress- do I have access to the root folder or only the people who built it have it?

    Thank you so much!

Maximum upload size is a server/PHP setting that cannot be changed inside WordPress, you need to change the setting on your server.

Is your site hosted on a local srver or a remote server?

If on a remote server, you may need to contact your hosting provider.

    Hi Tara, thanks for responding.

I’m not sure where my site is hosted. A web design company built this site, and I have only been able to log in and make the changes on WordPress. Is there a way I can find out the if it is on a remote server or local server? Do I need to contact the web design company to get access to the root folder?

    Thanks

Do I need to contact the web design company to get access to the root folder?

Yes you should contact them and get your hosting information from them.
