Is “pre-sale” support? This plugin is often described as “light”. Can I interpret this to mean that it is not as demanding of server resources as W…? I am hoping to choose a cart which might be ok on shared hosting, and isn’t going to make it necessary to commit to a plan on the level of DreamPress or similar. Is this possible or am I looking for a unicorn? For the record, I have used this plugin, but on a site with VERY simple needs.

I had someone who definitely needed the robust path mistakenly sign up for the most basic bottom level plan and got to see how badly bogged down a site could be with only the W plugins installed, not even built yet.

This site hasn’t been started yet, won’t require connecting with shipping (she’s ok with managing her own shipping), may have up to 100 products if variations are included, and may have some digital downloads. When I look at this list I have concerns.

So, do you think this plugin could work for her? And how robust would the hosting need to be?

    Thanks

Thank you for reaching out to us.

This is a very simple shopping cart plugin. However at the same time it covers many areas of a shopping cart plugin and it does not require lots of resources from the server.

The best option here is to provide a detail list of what you are looking for. This will allow me to properly answer all your questions.

    Kind regards.

My first reply disappeared. Trying again…

She is currently working on the business plan for this so it is subject to change. This is what I have been told up to this point.

The plan is to offer a mix of classes and physical products. When asked how many products she said up to 100 including variations in size, etc. Some of the classes are intended to include physical items assembled into kit form. There is uncertainty about whether the sale/booking of classes might need to be handled differently since they are time-based. It seems logical that the kit aspect would make a cart appropriate.

She is comfortable with handling her own shipping and label printing. The ability to turn on taxes would be appreciated. This is in Oregon where there is no sales tax so the item is going to receive further study.

Since it will be a new business with no track record I’m hoping to start her out with inexpensive hosting, but only if the performance won’t suffer or if it will be predictable that she will need to scale up to either or both more robust hosting or (worse) a more robust and demanding cart.

That’s all I have at this time. Thanks
