How do you block people from registering?

    Delete wp-register.php. Also remove the wp_register() tag from your templates (if it’s there).

    You could have also simply unchecked “Anyone can register” in Options/General. In WordPress v1.5.0, unchecking that option denied all registrations. I haven’t tested it since upgrading though, so it could be a bug in v1.5.1.

    I ran 1.1a for more then a year, just upgraded some weeks ago 😛
