• Hi,

Am I right in thinking that when you need to insert an image into a post/page, you have to upload it via FTP then create a link to it by copy-pasting the URL in your address bar? And is this the same for internal links to other pages? Surely not…

I’m a bit concerned about whether WordPress is easy to use for the average person – I’m assuming its popularity is due to its ease of use right?

    Any pointers hugely appreciated,

    Cheers

No, you’re not right. 🙂 Good news, huh?

As you look at your “Write Posts” page, look just below the editor. You’ll find the built-in image uploader there.

Thanks for getting back to me. That’s great news for the images – how about the internal links? Will users need to copy-paste the URL for those?

Also, how about uploading other types of files – is there a list of file types you can/can’t upload? I only ask because I tried uploading a strange file type and rejected big time.

    Cheers

Afraid I’m not following the question. If you’re composing a post and you want to link to another post, then yes, you’ll need to know the URL when creating the link.

Sorry for the delay in replying, I’m not receiving notifications when a reply is posted for some reason so didn’t know you’d responded.

I do indeed mean linking to other posts. I’m trying to use WordPress as a CMS rather than a blogging software, so it is fairly important that users can link to other pages/posts internally (by external I meant other http://www.domain.com addresses).

Is there a plugin that can handle this? Or is it a case of having two windows open (one with the page you want to link to, the other the page you’re editing) and copy-pasting the URL?
