How do I make sidebar submenus collapse?

    I am using WordPress to make a CMS site. I would like a simple way (with PHP in the sidebar.php file, maybe?) to make the sidebar navigation expand and collapse to reveal child or sub menus. I would like it to work like the wordpress.org site. If I go to http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ I see a bulleted list of sub menu items under Themes. If I then click the Plugins link, the list under Themes goes away and sub links under Plugins appears. Thank you for suggestions and/or sites with tutorials for working with WordPress navigation.
