Hello @mborin,
FontAwesome is already integrated on the Menu Icons plugin.
Once you have installed and activated the plugin, go to your Appearance > Menus
Expand the Menu Icons Settings on the left-hand side.

No need to install Font Awesome separately.
None of the other fonts appear to work when I try to select an icon, regardless of how many I’ve clicked in the settings.

I tested this on my end using the FontAwesome feature and it works fine.

As you can see on the screenshot, the icons are visible on the frontend.
Try switching to another theme to isolate the issue and see if the issue is the same.
Let us know how it goes.
It seems that the lag time is the problem. I left the page and came back to it later and the fonts were there.
