Hi @gcwp (and nice name!),
You can add a stylesheet to a child theme by:
- Adding a new folder to the child theme called tribe-events
- Adding a file in there called tribe-events.css
Once that file has been added, you can start adding rules in there to override the ones provided in the plugins’ default stylesheets. We also have a handy guide for helping locate the CSS classnames in the calendar:

Thanks for the link!
Is there an advantage to adding the Events Calendar css to the tribe-events.css file in the theme/tribal-events folder rather than in the child theme style.css file?
Cheers
Geoff
Hi Geoff,
Great question! We typically recommend using the tribe-events folder for CSS changes or template modifications to keep all plugin-specific modifications contained in one location. That way, your changes can remain easily accessible even if you make major theme adjustments or change themes entirely. Of course, you’re ultimately free to apply these adjustments wherever you see fit! 🙂
I hope that helps! Thanks, and let us know if you should have any other questions!

CarolineThanks for your reply Caroline.
But if I changeto a new theme I would still have to move the tribe-events.css file to a tribe-events folder in the new child theme …?
Cheers
Geoff
Hi Geoff,
You’ll find these CSS files in the plugin folder, and they’ll be unaffected by your theme, other than any conflicts. In “The Events Calendar” plugin folder, you’ll need to go to src > resources > css to find the plugin’s CSS files.
You could also make CSS changes using a custom CSS plugin.
Let us know if you have any further questions!

Shelby
Thanks Shelby!

I have taken a look at the css files but cannot see how to decide which elements need to have their colors changed so that they show up when using the “dark” option in the color scheme for the twenty seventeen theme.
Any thoughts on this?!

Hey again Geoff,
Thanks for posting, glad like our plugin, & I’m happy to help.:)
This kind of request would require some customization. We have some resources for doing that here. If you need to find someone to help with the customizations, we also have some tips for finding help here.
Hope this helps!
