Is it possible to have text displayed when hovering?

I use the “info” Genericon before I list hash values on an uploaded file, and I’d love to have it so that if you hovered over the icon it said “SHA-256 Checksum”.

Is this doable? I currently use shortcodes with this plugin, but I’m not against doing it another way if that would accomplish this.

Huh. It’s possible. And in fact SHOULD be there with a default to icon name for the blind. I’ll see what I can do.

Okay. I think I’ve got it.

https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/genericond.zip is the trunk version (or grab http://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/genericond/trunk/genericons.php )

What it adds is a shortcode attribute called ‘title’

[genericon icon=twitter title="follow me!"]

Should work? I did quick test and it was okay. If you don’t put in a title, it defaults to the icon name, so [genericon icon=twitter] has the hover text of ‘twitter’
