• I have downloaded wordpress using MAMP. The entire process was very confusing and I was unfamiliar with the terminology. Do I need MAMP to continue working with my wordpress blog? I have seem some support websites saying that I must download and pay for blue host? Just wondering what the best way to host a wordpress.org blog is, I paid for a wordpress.com blog and was looking to transfer.

So, if you’re looking to do local development, an environment like MAMP or Local by Flywheel is quite appropriate. If you’re making a site that will be a production site, visible on the Internet to any and all viewers, you need a web host. You do not want to expose your own computer or your home network to the Internet.

The official recommendations for hosting are here: https://wordpress.org/hosting/
