• Didn’t log into my hosting account for a while on iPage and they deleted my files.
Now when I try to log in through my website (www.newhunanbuffet.com/wp-admin.php)

    I get an error page:
    Not Found

The requested URL /wp-admin was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache/2.4.12 (Ubuntu) Server at http://www.newhunanbuffet.com Port 80

If my host site deleted my files, is my website completely gone? I’ve since renewed my hosting and have been trying to log in through WordPress to export my website but I can’t log in.

New to WordPress, any advice would be much appreciated!

Yes. Unless you have backup copies of your files and your database to import to your new hosting account, it’s gone.

It’s not stored onto my WordPress account anywhere?

No. Your self-hosted WordPress web site and your account here in the forums are in no way connected.

There are two key components to a self-hosted WordPress installation:

    1) Your database

    2) Your WordPress site files

When your site is self-hosted, it’s up to you as a site owner to create backups of those two components so that you don’t loose your site files or data in the event of server issues, hosting problems, or any other unusual event. If your hosting plan with iPage expired and they deleted your account, then unless you have copies of your files and your database stored locally, the site is gone.

    “loose” … oops. 🙂

    Hello @celinazeng,

If my host site deleted my files

In that case contact your hosting provider. Ask whether they take backup or not of your website.

From what I know most web hosting providers back up website files or can provide you with the deleted files. There may be premium support fees though. You may have a chance to retrieve those files. You may contact your web hosting provider for the specifics. 😀

While @bswajitgiri and @nechrono offer a very valid suggestion for recovering your files and database, in a case where your hosting service contract has been allowed to lapse and it’s been long enough that your host has actually deleted your account, your files and your mysql data – as appears to be the case in this situation – the chance is probably pretty slim.

You can contact iPage support and ask them if it’s possible that they may have retained any of your site in backup form, but I believe the automated backup services offered by iPage are something you would usually need to pay for, but hey.. you never know. Call them and see what they say. You may get lucky.

Some info that may help you if you decide to contact iPage.

“UPON TERMINATION OF THIS AGREEMENT FOR ANY CAUSE OR REASON WHATSOEVER, USER WEB SITE FILES AND USER CONTENT AND OTHER DATA IS DELETED UPON ACCOUNT TERMINATION. Accordingly, User should always maintain back-up copies of User’s web site and other User content and data so User may use such copies host elsewhere after such termination.
