  • @basscan Is your question about how to apply the Home template to the page selected as Homepage under Settings > Reading?

If so, I’m having the same problem. I don’t see how to apply the template. My only choices are Default, Page (large header), Page (no separators) or Blank.

I feel like I may be having the same issue. I originally just had one page site with no posts or anything. In the “Reading” section, I had my “Homepage” set to the only page on my site. It was using the “Page” template, even though it was the homepage. I then added a second page called “Blog” and then assigned that the “Posts page” and it is using the homepage template.

    Update:
I was misreading the purpose of the “Home” template. Basically, that is the blog posts template. In order to create a home page, create a new template called “Front Page” (or whatever you’d like) and then go from there.

    Hey there @basscan !

    >How do i set a page to be the homepage?

Check out this support article section: https://wordpress.org/support/article/site-editor/#how-to-update-what-your-homepage-displays

I helped write it so curious if it does or doesn’t answer your question.

This is intentional as it follows the WordPress template hierarchy as far as I know: https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/basics/template-hierarchy/#home-page-display Essentially, that template is reserved for your homepage, unless you create a Front Page template which will override that as an option.

Thank you for the incredible support here.

    Greetings StNabor 😉

Thank you, @annezazu. I just created a Front Page template and that works for my static home page. And it makes sense now that you reminded me about the template hierarchy.
