I am currently having trouble setting a homepage. I created a new page called Home and placed it into my menu. In the settings I set that as a static page and where posts go to. However the posts come out strange in that there is no thumbnail or date information when they display on that page. When I don’t set it as a static page, the posts work fine when I go to the page that I can only get to when I click the top left (where the logo is). However in that case the Home page I created stays empty. How can I get my posts to go to my new Home page and display the way they display on the default homepage?

    Thanks.

  • So you’re trying to set the “Home” page as a static front page AND your blog posts page? If so, you aren’t able to do this. You’ll need to create separate pages because WordPress treats them differently. If you need to customize the posts page with your own static content, you can create a custom template or just customize your home.php file.

Sorry, so please help me through this. As soon as you start a WordPress project there is already a automatic homepage (where posts are shown), even though you haven’t created any pages yet, correct? How do I change this homepage to a “Home” page I have just created?

Ok but I do not want a static front page, I just want the original homepage which shows the posts generated by WordPress to be visible on my menu.

By homepage I mean automatic front page.

I maintain a non profit organizations website. Recently we upgraded to WordPress 3.9.1 and now the navigation menu that was on the home page is gone. How do I get it back?

@zjadmin: It is considered impolite to interrupt another poster’s ongoing thread unless you are posting a solution or suggestion. As per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic.

Then check that you have configured your site’s font page to be the main posts page in Settings -> Reading.

I apologize. I thought I was posting my own topic.
