Home Page Slider Widget Problem

I am very new to wordpress and I have a problem with a new theme I have installed.

I want my front page to display my latest blog posts and my right sidebar widgets below a image slide show, on the theme there is a widget section for the slide show called “home page slider widget” when I place the “genesis responsive slider” in there and hit save my webpage malfunctions.

It completely takes out the right sidebar widgets and places the slider at the bottom of the page.

I have tried different layouts and removing the right sidebar but the slider still goes to the bottom of the page.

Can anybody help shed any light on what may be causing this?
