• My website is http://www.theimperfecthousewife.com and my homepage is pretty jacked up. It’s a blog, but the posts are all over the place. They are in the side bar and the side bar has been moved down to the bottom. However, if you actually click to a certain post, everything is back to normal. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Your site takes FOREVER to load — it never finished loading although I could see some of it. It may be due to whatever is screwed up on it, or you may just have too much stuff on it — looks like tons of photos. Also, you have 59 mark-up errors — see this is you don’t know what that means. You may want to delete that page and start over. You can upload a new, clean copy of that template if you’ve messed it up. What theme are you using?

Really? It loads right up on my computer. It looks like there are a lot of pictures because each of my blog posts is showing up in the sidebar and below instead of the sidebar being in the sidebar. The link to the errors didn’t work. If it’s that messed up, how come when you click on a post everything looks okay? I’m not code savvy so… I’m using the theme: sitting with a book and coffee hoe021.The only thing I’ve changed on the Editor is adding in my banner and adding in Google Analytics. Other than that, I don’t mess with it since I don’t know what I’m doing lol!

It loads fast on your machine because it is cached. Sorry that link did not work — try this: Codex on Validating Pages. I looked at the theme site and there are quite a few errors in the code to begin with — not a good sign of a quality theme. Errors may or may not cause problems, but you should still try to eliminate them. Also, what is the license on that theme — if it is not GPL, it’s not supported here.

I’m not sure what the license is. I changed my front picture size and everything looks right now. I’m not even sure how to fix errors on my page. I’m not that tech savvy. Thank you for looking at it, I really appreciate it. Is there an easy way to fix the errors?

To fix the errors, you need to use a validator — which will tell you where and what the errors are. Then you have to know enough to fix them — some may be “easy” and others not. LIke I said, some may be due to technical things that are not really fixable — doctypes and versions not recognized by the validator or certain browsers — because code standards are not constant. In that case, they are not a big deal usually, but again, you’d have to know enough to make that call.

Thanks. I don’t think I know enough to try and fix it. I’d hate to try and REALLY screw up! 🙂
