• The calendar page looked sloppy, not like in previous versions. When I uninstalled the plugin, it caused my Calendar page to use my home template and I can’t change it back.

  • Hi mcrib! I’m Rob from Modern Tribe, and I head up our support team. Thanks first of all for taking the time to write a review.

We saw it coming through and, as you can imagine, were sad to see that you didn’t have the experience we would hope for. As a result, we wanted to follow up with you and learn about how we might improve things.

It sounds like you’re finding that the latest version had some aesthetic changes that weren’t present in pre-3.8 versions. That is naturally concerning; this isn’t a change we intended to make and I have to say it’s an incredibly unusual thing to happen: few if any customers have reported the same thing. Even more crucial is the fact that it used the home page template for your calendar (which presumably lives at /events) and won’t allow that to be reset. This too isn’t something I’ve seen other reports of so it makes me wonder if there isn’t something else at play.

I took a quick look and couldn’t immediately see any posts from you related to The Events Calendar in the support forum here at dot-org. By no means are you obliged to post there, but it would have been awesome to have a chance to work through this with you and learn about what might have gone wrong.

In fact, if you do think there is any useful information you might be able to share we’d still love to hear from you. I want to do our darndest to get you back on the right path, and get you stoked at the prospect of using The Events Calendar. (If we could earn back a few of those missing stars along the way, that’d be a win too!).

If you’ve since moved on to another calendar solution, that’s totally understandable too, and I wish you the best of luck with whatever you ended up on. Either way: our apologies once again for the poor experience, and thanks again for sharing your experience here so others can make a more informed decision when deciding whether The Events Calendar is right for them.
