• Hello,

I have the website hosted in a shared hosting environment and have been getting messages that there are CPU spikes happening. The website is a fresh and up-to-date install of WordPress, Theme, Wordfence, W3 Total Cache, Cloudflare, etc.

I’ve disabled WP-cron and enabled a real-cron instead. I’ve blocked access to all countries but US and Canada (we are a local business). I’ve blocked a BIG list of bad bots, etc.

This website only has 22 pages and 46 posts. There are no transactions, no commenting, etc. It is pretty much a static site. I am the only person making changes and adding content.

I’ve done everything I can think of or that has been recommended. We are not getting very much ‘real’ traffic and I’ve blocked most of the unwanted traffic. It is not a big site, I do not know what is happening.

Is there any way I can ‘hire’ one of your specialized techs to take a look at the site and let me know if there is something not configured properly or is the shared hosting supplier the problem?

    Thanks for any help,
    Bribri

  • Personally, I would disable out WordFence while you troubleshooting this issue.
And same for W3 Total Cache (altho, that wouldn’t be temporary)
There are certainly not any clues based on the front-end.

Login to your host and take a look at the Apache and PHP logs for clues. Maybe you have a run away plugin. In cases like this, I’ll also ssh to the server and tail -f the log file(s) and just leave it running for a few hours to keep an eye on it.

How are you keeping your site indexed?

    Is the form something custom?
