hiding categories / modifying functions.php

    Hi,

    Looking for hours a way to hide some ID categories on all posts (i’m using those categories only to manage my posts on dashboard).
    Tried plug-ins to do that, but not worked.

    I’m not a coder, but i saw possible solutions by adding some php code in functions.php file.
    I’m not working on a child theme. So, what happen to the next OceanWP update ? Will my eventually custom code added to function.php will be erased ?

    Any idea ?

    Hello,

    Try to use the ‘Ultimate Category Excluder’ plugin to do this. I tested it and it works great.

    I did it. Does not work. Maybe because i use Elementor.

    It could be. I tested the plugin and it hides the category from the frontend.

    Anyway, i found a PHP code that works perfectly to hide categories as i want.
    But, is the update of OceanWP automatic or manual ? I don’t want to be surprised, because for each update, i have to check if my custom PHP code remains on functions.php file, or if i have to paste it again on the updated file.

    Try to add the code in the oceanwp child theme’s functions.php file. The update will not erase any code if you have added in the child theme.

    I know that but meanwhile I build it, the parent theme update is automatic or i can decide when activate it ?

    You will see the update notification within the dashboard. Update it as per your need.
