Hide permalink generated pages

I have a custom permalink setting of /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname% . So this generates a page url mywebsite.com/2011 to show posts made in the year 2011 or mywebsite.com/2011/08 will show all posts in August of 2011. Is there a way to hide these type of pages?
