After installing the free WordFence, I discovered persistent attempts to log into my blog using “admin” and “tech” – I reduced the maximum attempts before locking out to 5 – even then my inbox is full, so I added “Immediately lock out invalid usernames” for users “admin” and “tech” – yet 2 days later, I am still getting regular warning emails….
    my blog is https://tech.scargill.net

    Any ideaas guys?

Hello @scargill and thanks for reaching out to us!

This seems like Wordfence is just doing its job correctly. Usually, bots will hit the login with generic login names such as administrator or admin, much like in your case with admin. We always recommend changing the admin name to a different account name.

I recommend reading into this link:
    https://www.wordfence.com/learn/how-to-harden-wordpress-sites/

As for the alerts you are getting, you can change those in All Options > Email Alert Preferences.

https://www.wordfence.com/help/dashboard/alerts/ is a good reference for email alerts as well.

Let me know if this helps!

    Thanks!
