• Hey guys, I could really use your help with this one. I’m very new to wordpress so please forgive me for my rookie mistakes. I had created my first site on wordpress, did a little editing and it changed the appearance of my website negatively and I couldn’t fix it. So I deleted my website and started a new one with the same template. To make a long story short, somehow all the files (besides my own personal files, not related to the website) have been removed from my FTP site and I have no idea what files I need or how to go about getting them back on my FTP site. That is question number 1. Question #2 – How do I actually make my website go live with the domain, instead of localhost. ALSO, is there a way to edit my website remotely, instead of just at the computer that I have wordpress installed? I do a lot of traveling, and I would like to be able to edit my website on the go. I’m sure this is possible, but could someone please inform me how to do so? Thanks in advance for all of your help.

  • So I deleted my website

And how exactly did you do that?

Via microsoft web matrix. Im not sure if that what why my files were removed from the ftp site. Or possibly did a little too much messing around on their. However, they r gone, and was wondering how to get them back.

But what did you do? Did you delete any files or folders?

I removed the files from the FTP site, I thought that when I started a new FTP site they would upload again. I figured the files on the FTP site were proprietary to each website.

So you deleted all of the WordPress files from the remote site?

on my FTP site, yes that is correct. I think I might have found out how to upload them back with Microsft web matrix. It’s just not doing them all at once.

Why don’t you use an FTP client?

    (@mhgrafix)

Because I don’t know what files I need to upload to my ftp client or where they r located

Do you know where you installed WordPress on your remote site?

    I do not

Oh dear 🙁 Does your host offer any kind of file management application that you could use? What was the url of the site?

The files might be out there somewhere. I just dont know where to look exactly. I am BRAND NEW to word press, so forgive me. The url to my site is http://www.mh-grafix.com.

I currently have just a construction page up now that I edited in dreamweaver.
