Help with Meta Tags

I am new to this and trying to get this up and running on my own so pardon my ignorance please.

What I have is a purchased domain and i am using bluehost for wordpress. I have everything up and running except for one piece. I think I have figured out the cause but am struggling with the solution… First off Jet Pack may be an issue based on some of the research I have done. The other issue is I have my site set to use my latest post as my static front page. Since my latest post is my front page, when posting on facebook there is no image showing and the description is pointing back to my last post. Is there a way that when I post the main link to facebook, google+ etc that I can control the meta data being shown? The meta data is correct when I post a link that goes directly to a particular blog post, just not on the main url.

I want the link the have a specific image and description.
