  • Hi Becky,

After you download it, you have the choice to either unzip it and upload it to your hosting via an FTP program, or you can keep it zipped up, log into your cpanel over at Bluehost and look for the File Manager. Upload the zipfile you downloaded and then extract it there once it’s finished.

Then you need to create a database and user and start the rest of the installation process.

This is the official page with instructions: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Famous_5-Minute_Install

I have a step by step process on my own site, which I created because my subscribers didn’t find the official one easy to follow: http://ladywp.com/install-wordpress-quick-easy-and-secure/

Thank you, but I don’t have these options.

I downloaded the file several times. When I open it, it’s just a bunch of folders and pages. There is nothing for me to unzip? I know what ftp program means?

I downloaded it by clicking the “download” link but is there something else I need to do to install it??

If you are doing a manual installation you need to do the following:
    1 – Create a database
2 – Create a user and assign it to the database
3 – Run the installation and use the information above in it

I am not tech saavy at all.. I don’t know how to create a database?? or create a user?

I need step by step instructions on how to do all of these things. i was excited to migrate to wordpress.org, but I am at a total loss.

I don’t know how to create a database?? or create a user?

You need to contact your hosts for assistance with this.

    btountas,

I agree with esmi. Contact your web hosting provider to migrate. It’s not a good idea if you don’t know what you are doing. You don’t want to migrate wrongfully otherwise it would create more problems in long run.
