Good morning,We cannot get into our WordPress admin panel today. After successfully entering our admin panel user name and password, we are being prompted to enter a “2FA code”. We do not see and have not seen this information anywhere. We tried logging into Wordfence, but do not see this information anywhere either. Can you please help by providing this 2FA code?

Hi @comics4sale, thanks for getting in touch.

It sounds from your description like multiple people in your organization may be using the same admin account? I would first make sure that none of those people have added 2FA to secure the account. The codes are only known to the person who scanned the QR code in Wordfence > Login Security as they’re time-sensitive tokens unique to that device – so we can’t provide a code.

Whenever a 2FA code is unknown, or a device has been lost, rename the /wp-content/plugins/wordfence plugin folder to “wordfence_bak” (without quotes). This should let you access and log into your site normally. You can then rename the folder back to “wordfence” as 2FA is effectively disabled by doing this and would need to be reconfigured.

Let us know how you get on,
    Peter.
