HELP please! New to WP

    HI

    I am very new to Word Press, and wondered whether I may seek advice? I am building a site for a local charity/Amateur Musical group – presntly sited as http://www.formresult.co.uk.
    I purchased a template (or Theme as I believe they are called here). In the Theme I’d like to remove the information relating to making posts as you would in a blog. I’d also like to remove the search box, and perhaps make the right hand column a little more attractive by adding some sort slideshow. Can anyone advise please?
    I am a bit confused with the “meta”, blogroll, and the like. Are they strictly for certain types of data? When I look in the WordPress CMS I can’t see any widgets in the Theme, but looking at the xhtml it says that there are widgets … indicated by class=widget_style I presume.

    Meta is a set of links usually reserved for admins of the website. They also include links to WordPress. Blogroll is a list of links to other websites. WP comes with 8-10 links already in the blogroll. You can change those or delete them. You can remove both the Meta and the Blogroll from your site either through the CMS or by editing your template pages.

    Hi Dan,

    Many thanks for the information. I am sure I will be calling on your guidance at some point, but don’t want to make a nuisance of myself, and really want to get into using WP as a CMS so there’s a lot to learn….

    Do you have any advice on how to remove the search box?

    Hi Dan,
    The template I have I bought from templatemonster and is Template No 20436 which contains theme641
