I did follow your guide and included the client ID in the social login set up page.
Also switched the Google+ api “on”
Deactivated cache plugin
Unfortunately it still hangs.

I have the widget appearing in my sidebar, after setting it to appear in the primary sidebar, but the widget has no content. I only want to use LinkedIn login, and that is set, along with my API key, in the plugin settings.

Icon is not appearing because of some mis-configuration in the LinkedIn app you have created.
To fix it, enter exactly the following url in the Website URL and Javascript API Domains options of LinkedIn app (see step 6 and 11 at http://thechamplord.wordpress.com/2014/01/26/getting-linkedin-api-key/ ) you configured for Social Login and save the changes:
