I’m having a BUTTLOAD of trouble figuring out the sql thing. I’ve been reading tutorials all day long and can’t fix this. Basically, my friend was hosting my site on his server for me. He transfered everything to my 1&1 server with the same domain, but I’m having trouble setting up this sql business.

I’ve already entered all my info in the wpconfig folder, but somethings missing…. not sure.

  • It would be helpful to know exactly what the problem is you’re having. Are you getting errors when you try to install? And what do you mean you entered your info in the wpconfig FOLDER? There isn’t a wpconfig folder. There’s a wp-config FILE. Is that what you meant? If so, then most likely you’re entering the wrong database info. That’s usually the problem.

It was the wp-config file that i edited. i put all my info in there and i’m getting this error:

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘./albotasblog/wp-blog-header.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php’) in /homepages/46/d255400443/htdocs/albotasblog/index.php on line 17

you have a few things going on. that and then there’s this:

    http://www.albotas.com/wp-blog-header.php

which shows a very large “Error establishing a database connection”

you asked for help in your other thread.. and Im willing but I do ask for a small donation just to keep people honest.

    Ugh… how much?

this forum frowns on that kind of “talk”, im only mentioning it so you’re aware of it before contacting me (i dont like surprises, i figure other ppl dont either) — needless to say, I’m very reasonable.

if you want, contact me off the forum, switch these around:

    Okay, I’m getting this:

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

The username, password, and hostname are correct, but how do I tell if my database server is running?

Are you SURE they’re correct? 99.99% of the time when you get that error they are incorrect. Who’s your host? What did you put for the hostname?
