Help me selecting the data base

    Hi

    I am installing new blog manually with out using
    Fantastico

    in myphpadmin i find list of utf-8

    I am confused which one to select

    My blog default Lang: English

    Plan to add translation plugin

    Any suggestion plz

    UTF-8 is the universal encoding that works for all languages in the same time.

    Ok .Under the UTF-8 there is of other UTF option is there so which one i should select ,so that i won’t have any issue when i active translation plugin

    As far as I see it’s only one for character encoding and more choices for “collation” – at least in my phpmyadmin.

    Anyway, I’d go with the utf-8 Unicode and for the collation – utf8_unicode_ci: that’s the multilingual, international = usable with any language.

    (Note. Some older DBs work quite fine with encoding utf-8 and collation latin1_swedish_ci. I don’t know why…)
