Please help! I am very new to WordPress and my site was running just fine until I clicked update when wordpress asked me to update…
now my website is broken and down and I have no idea how to fix it.

All I did was click update, and now my website says this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_register_plugin_realpath() in /home/content/92/9655292/html/wp-settings.php on line 213

What do I do? I am very confused and lost…

  • Try renaming the wp-content/plugins folder and check. If the site doesn’t work switch back to old version. Suggestion here for switching

what is wp-content/plugins folder? is that on my computer? I do everything through a web browser… I’ve never done anything to work on my website outside of my actual URL

Do you have access to filemanager (cPanel or any control panels) ? How did you install wordpress ?

I just go to my website and login and work on it. All I did was click update when I got into my dashboard and now its broken… I don’t understand what filemanager or FTP is… Why is this happening?

Can someone please help, I’m frantic! Can’t I just undo the update?
    I don’t understand why this is happening…

Request your hosting to manually switch your WordPress version to 3.8.3 since you are unable to do it yourself.
