    Hi,

I’m writing a blog about software/code but I’m completely new to web development. This is probably a basic question but I want my code blocks to have a black box around them with white text instead of how the built in code tags with the greater/equals sign tags look. I tried installing a plugin that said to do this (https://wordpress.org/plugins/blog-terminal/) but when I put the [terminal] tags in my ‘edit post’ area it just doesn’t do anything and just shows:
    [terminal]
    code here
    [/terminal]

Was I supposed to do something else to get this plugin to work? If not and it just doesn’t work, is there a way to manually edit the style for code tag to change background and text color?
    Thanks!
