Thanks Esmi – there seems to be some really good info here.
I tried the ftp option, but it wouldn’t see my site/files, probably because the ‘url’ has been changed.
I’ve found the config.php on my hard drive… but that’s about it. To be honest I’m pretty useless at web building/editing, but sadly had spent ages getting my site to something that I’m happy with and shouldn’t have messed. I’ll try you tube to see if i can find out how to edit the php, but thanks anyway.

Your WordPress settings will not affect your FTP in any way. They are two completely different applications. You need to look for wp-config.php in the same folder as you installed WordPress into.
Hey – sorted! What a fantastic relief!
Thanks esme, for pointing me in the right direction – wouldn’t have had a clue where to even start never even heard of a ‘url’.
I looked at the php, but became even more confused, so typed changing url in you tube and got thsi excellent video tutorial.

All i wanted to do was get the word ‘Welcome’ to come up large when the site opened, rather than having to click on the littel ‘welcome’ to make this happen – if this makes sense.

Anyhow, I can go to bed happy now.
