• I just connected WordPress to my host and everything is fine except I can’t view my site. Instead of that “Hello World” page you get in the beginning when you first start up it’s “this domain has just been registered”. Yeah, no shit, I’m the one who registered it. Why isn’t wordpress showing up?

  • FTP into your site (or use whatever file management application your host provides) and delete/rename the index.html file in the root folder.

    Thanks for responding.

I renamed the files and now when I visit my page it says:

    “Error 403 – Forbidden
You tried to access a document for which you don’t have privileges.”

Does that mean I need to change the permissions on my admin account?

Please excuse my ignorance. This is my first wordpress site.

This is what I’m working with…
    Host site: 1and1.com
    Mac OSx10.5
    Filezilla

    Try adding:

    DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm

to the top of your root .htaccess file.

I just tried updating my page through another website builder (SeaMonkey) and ran into the same problem (updates are not showing up).

Don’t use SeaMonkey to create content for WordPress. You will hit problems. If you only registered your domain recently, it may take up to 48 hours for your your domain to start working properly. If you registered the domain and obtained hosting a few days ago and you’re still not able to see your site, you might want to contact your hosts.
