Hello from a newbie

(The person who created and maintained our church website left our church and I have taken over the maintenance of the site, although I have no html or CSS training. I find the templates mostly easy to use (Risen Theme from churchthemes version 1.1.6) but I notice that under new events anything created which is newer than 2 weeks in the future, will not display on the website until it is just 2 weeks away. I haven’t been able to find where to change that setting to 4 weeks. I am also afraid what doing the updates will do to the work already here as far as functionality.

Besides that I have not been able to figure out if one need to create new pages in some other software and then import it in or not. I say that because the new page editor seems very very limited. Please bear with me as I am new at this and just volunteering my time to help out our church.)
