Did you tried using any Slider Plug-in? there are plenty in the plug-ins market that will work.

I’ve tried a couple with no success using the header setup under appearance? Is there another method better suited?
The Theme says there is an option between slider and one image – you shouldnt have to add a slider plugin. I’ve chosen Slider for the Layout option under Customize/Featured Content. I hope someone here answers!
You should have a look at Meta Slider. It works for me.

If you have a look under “documentation” and then “theme integration” you should see how to add it to the 2014 theme header.
Thank you both for responding. The slider works beautifully within the body of the page(s); however, I am missing something in inserting the slider into the header – I do not see the options … suggested for header setup.

You need to change some code in the header.php to get the slider to work in the header. If you scroll down the page to Twenty Fourteen it will tell you how to do it.
I followed the instructions for changing the code related to the header per the link you posted, for the 2014 theme. I had no luck; however, I may have well failed to replace / insert the new code correctly. I copy/pasted, inserting the slider ID …
The metaslider is compatible with 2014? I received an error message when viewing the page?
The metaslider works beautifully in the body, clearly suggesting an incompatibility or the probable error when working in the editor.
