Well first of all you can reduce padding on your header with some custom CSS. To do that please try adding the following CSS code in the style.css file of your child theme or add it in your site using the following plugin:

.site-header-main {
padding: 0;
}
Other then that the real issue here is your logo image, which takes a lot of space, so cropping it on the top/bottom in image editor would do a great deal too I believe, I couldn’t download the image but it looks like it takes a lot of space http://screencast.com/t/5gQtIyPF.

That was really helpful, thank you! I changed my logo slightly by putting the wording all on one line and I cropped it as much as I could, so now I’ve got the header size more or less how I wanted. I just have a couple more questions, I hope you don’t mind. I’m new here and I’m just getting to know the basics.
Could you let me know what the retina logo is?
I also watched a video about Make and there was something called ‘navigation’ in the’customize’ and ‘general’ tabs but I don’t have it.

I’ve checked the theme to find that and you should be able to find retina logo options in admin panel in Appearance -> Customize -> General -> Logo, see screenshot http://screencast.com/t/ngkfLGO6Poev.

Sorry about that, I completely missed that part. I’ve checked the theme and there is navigation tab in the customizer, to access it go to Appearance -> Customize -> General -> Navigation, http://screencast.com/t/SZPKqVqu2k.
The tab offers you to replace menus same as you go to Appearance -> Menus so if you for any reason don’t have that there you can go to Appearance -> Menus and do the same thing.

It’s possible that we’re not using the same version of the theme or there is some sort of a conflict on your admin so that part is not working properly. Either way as I already mentioned, you can do absolutely the same thing in Appearance -> Menus as you can do in that part of customizer so I don’t think there is a reason for you to worry about that one too much.
If you want to send screenshot anyway you can use an awesome app called Jing, it’s what I am using to upload screenshots as the one above.

I’m assuming it is most likely just a different version of the theme or you’re using premium version?
Either way as I mentioned above that tab just allows you to select menus for your navigation and you can do absolutely the same thing in Appearance -> Menus so I don’t really see a reason for you to worry about that unless you’re having any specific issues with anything else.
