  • Sadly rearranging the header elements are nearly impossible.

I wish they had used widgets or something for each of the parts in the header so they can be moved around.

Your header would look great if the search and cart info were either on the top of or under the header and in a line.

I hope someone answers your question so I can learn as well what needs to be done 🙂

Our Storefront Designer extension allows you to choose from different header layouts. The WooCommerce Customiser extension allows you to toggle the header components.

If all you want to do is have the ability to move or delete header elements is 80 bucks?

Why not have a plugin that only deals with the header?

Maybe make each element a widget and let people move the widgets around?

Widgets in the main header section wouldn’t make sense as we’d then need to have styles to cater for _all_ widgets in the header which isn’t realistic and would be a waste of resources.

It’s unfortunate that the two things you want to do are spread over two extensions instead of one, but each extension offers a lot of functionality beyond that as well. There’s a 30 day money back guarantee so there’s nothing to lose in trying them.

If you think 80 bucks is too much, please consider the amount of time that has gone into developing Storefront core which is given away totally for free.

    Regards.

It’s not that I think the extensions are overpriced for you get, to the contrary, WooCommerce is quite powerful.

However, changing the header around is a basic function of WordPress, at least it used to be. The same goes for all CMS’. IMO, to have that ability removed is to gimp WP.

As I said, it’s been quite a few years since I’ve used WP and it’s going to take a while to relearn it all. Especially the new theming schema.

I really want to start using Woo but I can’t get to that point yet. It just seems to me that the system is nickel and dimeing it death. It would cost thousands of dollars to get full functionality.

The header is arguably among the most important part of a web site. And yet I can’t seem to be able to carry out seemingly basic functions.

I know you’re probably feeling insulted but I’m being straight-up about it with you.

I’ll probably be getting the plugin but being broke puts a damper on things 🙂

    Cheers!

wordpress itself is free. anyone making money off of wordpress should acknowledge that, woocommerce probably wouldn’t exist without wordpress.

However, changing the header around is a basic function of WordPress, at least it used to be.

WordPress.org has never included functionality that allows you to edit header layouts. Especially not ‘years’ ago. This feature could only have come from a theme.

It would cost thousands of dollars to get full functionality.

That depends on how you define ‘full’. To me, being able to set up an online shop with a professional looking theme for free is a remarkably good deal. None of the extensions are required.

The extensions might seem expensive, but if you were to ask a developer to quote on custom building them for you, I think you’d see the value they offer.
