• Hi, I am new to WordPress and the support forum so I hope this is the right forum for my question.

I want to have multiple pages with some information and different posts. How can I do this? Do I need a plugin for that?

    I want it like this:
    pages for
    My dog
    My Home
    About me

And on every page I want some information about it always on top of the page like this

    My dog
I have a two year old dog named Sid. He likes to eat, sleep and chase rabbits.

And under that information I want all posts related to my dog/my home/about me.

  • What do you have at the moment, pages or posts? Ive just changed all mine around…grrr ( am new too!) so now i have all posts and not pages. Which sounds like what you want..

…my front page displays all of my posts (in your case dog, home, about me) it is a static page and stays the same. I can then clik on dog ect and it will go to the archive of all the things in dog?

does this make sense? let me know, i used a plugin to do it…ill dig it out if it helps

Now I have pages and I want both. So that I can choose which page my post will be published to.

    Webtree:
    my dog – page
information about my dog – static information
to day we went out in the woods – post
he met an other dog – post
    etc

    My Home – page
information about my Home – static information
    today I bought a lamp – post
my favourite coffeecup broke – post
    etc

    About me – page
information about me – static information
    today I made a cake – post
    etc

I hope you understand what I mean, don’t know exactly how to explain what I want. 🙂

    lol i know !

    This may help ?

Any combination is possible, even custom post types:

    Page to Post
    Post to Page
    Page to Attachment
    Post to Custom
Note: Invisible post types (revisions, menus, etc…) are purposely excluded. Filter ‘pts_post_type_filter’ to adjust the boundaries.

Not totally sure I understand, but categories are usually how you assign posts to appear in a posts “page” (not a static page) – and a custom menu lets you put whatever you want in the menu.

mmm? I get categories but im all posts, soooo… the OP could do say 3 posts (individually named categories ie: dog, about me ect. Then in them categories they could have a collective archive of all the events in each separate one?

Conceivably yes. By either using another category (i.e. “all” or something more appropriate). Or sure, a plugin is good if it does what you want.

Or it’s also possible to create a custom template page and display category posts there – but that takes some coding so it would be a theme-specific question.

snyggsmurfen, let us know what outcome your having!
