    Hey guys,

I love this new plugin, just raising a red flag here.

The GZIP module broke the website, and this was the error:

    [Tue Jan 08 11:55:09.777513 2019] [core:alert] [pid 22997] [client 185.93.228.9:59602] /home/the*****/public_html/.htaccess: </IfModule> without matching <IfModule> section

It might be because of a conflict with other optimization plugins and other rules that were already present in httaccess

It’s normal if you have super custom .htaccess and other plugins overlapping functionality for such issues to occur. Please, look into your .htaccess file, delete all gZIP related content, disable all other plugins trying to do the same and switch off and then back on the SG Optimizer functionality. That should clean things up.

    Hi Hristo.
    Yes, I can imagine.

I might look into this in the staging environment later on when I got more time.

Do you think that if I deactivate other plugins trying to do the same they will automatically remove the rules from .htaccess?

Unfortunatelly, most plugins devs don’t “clean up” after them so I am pretty sure that you will have to spend some time cleaning up the .htaccess file because there might be rules affecting gZip.

    Fair enough, thank you Hristo!

Oh, P.S., for reference, do you know where one can see how a “virgin” installation of .htaccess should look like?
