Great Plug-in, can be flaky to edit
-
This is, no doubt, an incredibly valuable plug-in. But it can be flaky to work with when editing translations. Here are some of the issues I have run into editing English to Portuguese:
-The system uses different words to translate a word. So I may have a chapter title on one page, but when you click the link for that title, the title is translated differently on the next page, and then the URL may use yet another word in the translation.
– Words in italics are sometime left in English on the translated page.
– Sometimes, as I am editing pages, the text suddenly switches to a strange version of right-justified (but the text is also somehow inside out, with the period for the sentence on the far left.) Not sure if visitors might also experience this.
– At times, an editable page can’t be edited (the URL shows I am in edit mode, but I can’t edit the page.)
– Sometimes the URL sticks to English, which is frustrating when I am trying to capture a link for a page in another language. After clicking around to other pages, the system will eventually show the link in the other language.
– Pages will sometimes get stuck, and even though I have moved on to another page, I am still seeing a previous page I edited.
– In Portuguese, the words sometimes reflect whether the author/speaker is a woman or a man, and the system assumes I am a man. It would be nice if women could be the default.I hope the developers continue to work out the bugs.`
