    Hi there,

    The Yoast SEO plugin is inserting a script in the header:
    <script type=”application/ld+json” class=”yoast-schema-graph”>
    At the end of the script tag, there is a json entry with an empty name:
    {“@type”:”ListItem”,”position”:3,”name”:””}

    Google Search Console is showing an error for breadcrumbs that says ‘Either “name” or “item.name” should be specified’.

    Can someone please advise?

    Thanks!

    While it seems from the URL that a given page is a static .HTML page we are completely not sure how this page is managed from the WordPress backend. Nevertheless, the schema error Either “name” or “item.name” indicates the breadcrumb schema markup does not have a title. This could mean that either the given post or page itself doesn’t have a defined title, has an empty breadcrumb title. To add a custom breadcrumb title, please follow the steps here.

    After defining page title, please check the URL again via Rich Results Testing tool.

    Hello Suwash,

    I’m also facing the same issue. I have set static page as the homepage with pagination. The pagination pages /page/2/ and others are having the breadcrumbs issue.

    Please look into this issue.

    Thanks!

    Hi Suwash @suascat_wp,

    We have ‘breadcrumbs’ disabled in the ‘Search Appearance’ tab of the plugin. We don’t want to set a custom Breadcrumbs Title for each page, as they are dynamically created. How do we remove the breadcrumb on these pages?

    Thanks!

    Hi @alpesh_p2010

    We are sorry you’re having a similar issue. Please open a new request. That way it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance. Thanks!

    Hi @borndigital

    We understand you’ve disabled the breadcrumbs feature in the Search Appearance section. However, while the breadcrumbs won’t display on the frontend when browsing the website, the breadcrumb schema itself will still output. If you want to remove the breadcrumb, you’ll have to refer to our Schema API in order to remove the breadcrumb output – https://developer.yoast.com/features/schema/api/

    Hi @mikes41720

    Thank you for providing the API – but I guess we don’t want to completely disable the breadcrumb schema. I used the original Google Rich Result URL test that was provided above, and it looks like there is just an empty itemListElement at the end of the breadcrumb results: https://search.google.com/test/rich-results?id=5jkUr_WBqxbF183CrzumRg

    Do you know where this issue could be stemming from?

    Thank you for your assistance!

    While we are unable to confirm from where exactly the empty name property is appearing on the last itemListElement in the breadcrumbs schema, we do know that Yoast SEO v16.8 comes with a fix for this.

    However, we see that you’re already running Yoast SEO v16.8 and the issue persists which is very odd. In this case, we’re out of clue at this point and needs deeper investigation.

    So, due to the nature of the issue, we’ll need to take a look at your setup. However, we are unable to do it here as this is a public forum.

    So, if you have an active Yoast SEO Premium subscription or if you can consider buying one, we can investigate the issue further directly on your setup privately through email.

    However, if you don’t wish to get the Yoast SEO Premium subscription, that’s completely fine. In this case, you’ll need to troubleshoot the issue further on your setup as we are literally out of any clue at this moment without taking a look at the setup. So, someone from the community might step forward as well who has experienced or is familiar with the issue.

    Thanks for your understanding!
