Google Gears Error: align-center.png failed

    Hi,

Something very strange is going on.

Anytime I try and enable Google Gears on my blog I get:

    Gears Status

Gears is installed and enabled on this computer. You can disable it from your browser Tools menu.

If there are any errors, try disabling Gears, then reload the page and enable it again.

Local storage status: Error: Download of ‘/wp-admin/images/align-center.png’ failed, status code 404.

Image file exists and loads just fine in FF, IE, Opera, etc. I even re-uploaded it just to be sure.

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

    Thanks,

    Will

    Hey,

Well, I upgraded to WordpPress 2.7 and now I see:

    Turbo: Gears Status

Gears is installed and enabled on this computer. You can disable it from your browser’s Tools menu.

If there are any errors try disabling Gears, reloading the page, and re-enabling Gears.

    Local storage status: Updating files:

It never gets off “Updating files”. 🙁

I’ve tried removing gears from firefox and reinstalling but same thing.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Will

    Hi War,

With certain hosting you “.htaccess” file migth have a line like this:

    RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp)$ – [F,NC]

I THINK this is used to stop hotlinking and COULD be the problem. Try removing this line.

Let me know how you get on.

    Indeed!

Odd though since I do have:

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www.)?example.com(/)?.*$ [NC]

    Any known workaround?
