    Firstly, apologies for what is, I’m sure, a very naive question, but why when setting up google chromecast does the Google Cast App ask for permission to :

    ‘Read and change all your data on the websites you visit’

    Now all I really want the thing for is to mirror web pages and video wirelessly, and this permission doesn’t really sound so great.

    What exactly does it mean, is it safe – what information am I agreeing to hand over to google?

    That is indeed an interesting question, but the more interesting one is why are you asking this on the WordPress forums?

    The answer to your question is that the extension needs to be able to see the webpages in order to send them to the Chromecast device, so it would necessarily need to be able to read and change data on any website that you visit. If it can’t read the data, then it can’t send it to your Chromecast.

    But this question is probably more appropriate on a Chromecast specific forum, not the WordPress support forums.
