Good automatic image resizer for large filesizes

I’m wondering if there’s a plugin that’ll do an automatic (preferably to specifications in settings) resize of images that I forgot/was too lazy to resize to a more web-friendly filesize. It’d help with themes that’ll deliver those files as browser scaled, reducing the speed of the site since it’s transferring a 12mp image that I didn’t trim down.

Preferably it’d be transparent and just do it automatically for image files uploaded that are over a (specifiable) size. Obviously image quality controls would be great to preserve as much of the original photo quality as possible during the downsample.

If anyone knows of any plugins that’ll do this, or projects in progress that I can donate to that would fit the bill, please let me know!
