I recently moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress. I kept the same domain name (http://lacarmella.co.uk), and I’m using GoDaddy’s managed wordpress hosting and my domain name is also registered with them.

I’ve been getting 404 errors, but I don’t know why. Sometimes my blog works fine, then randomly starts getting 404 errors again… Any ideas why? As it’s managed wordpress by GoDaddy, I haven’t installed anything or messed up any of the files… Is it my DNS settings?

Would you please let us know which links fail?

A random 404 could happen for any random reason. It’s hard to tell why without specifics.

My whole blog gets 404 errors randomly. It never works at all in Safari, or on mobile, but seems to be fine in Google Chrome most of the time. The 404 error I get says “The requested URL / was not found on this server.”

Contact GoDaddy and see if they are having any server issues. I was having this problem once and they reset the server I think, no problems since.

Try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings/Permalinks in your admin panel. If WordPress cannot automatically edit the .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.

Thanks for your help, I contacted Go Daddy and it was something to do with multiple IP addresses because I used to be hosted by Blogger. It’s sorted now 🙂
