• I’m having trouble with the GoDaddy automatic install.

    According to GoDaddy, WordPress is installed. And indeed all the files are installed on online.

    I can also log in to the back end of my Worpress blog from root/wp-admin

    HOWEVER, the big issue is that I can’t install themes and plugins. I’ve deleted all the original files from the themes folder and put in a new theme, but I can’t change to the custom theme in my dashboard.

    I have no reason to believe that WordPress “knows” that it is installed on my domain and not just being directed there.

    What should I do about this situation?

  • Did you install WordPress in the top level of your server or in another directory? Did you install in a directory you named root or do you mean public_html?

    It’s installed at the root. I used GoDaddy’s automatic application install, which is one of the reasons I’m a little unsure of what’s gone wrong.

    Thanks for the reply!

    Your DNS and hosting still resolve to wordpress.com instead of jeremymcohen.com. Did you change your DNS? Are you still using wordpress.com for hosting for jeremymcohen.com?

    @jeremymcohen

    songdogtech’s right, the DNS is still pointing to your WordPress.com account. A quick search on DNSstuff.com verifies this. If you plan on using jeremymcohen.com with your install of WordPress, you’ll need to update your nameservers to resolve to your Go Daddy hosting account. Here’s the help article that will help you make the update – http://help.godaddy.com/article/664

    Thank you so much both @gdhosting and @songdogtech.

    I updated the DNS and waiting for the change to be made. Once it’s up, I’ll confirm that everything’s going right on this board.
