GiveWP database migrations stuck after update

Hello,

I’m running GiveWP 4.16.7.2 on WordPress 6.8.8, PHP 8.3.31 and MySQL 8.0.43.

After updating GiveWP, I noticed that the database migrations are in an inconsistent/stuck state.

Current migration status:

• #27 “Create give_campaigns table from core” = Failed
• #28–34 = Success
• #35 “Add campaign id to donations” = Running
• #36–47 = Pending

Migration #27 reports:

An error occurred while creating the wp_give_campaigns table

However, both wp_give_campaigns and wp_give_campaign_forms already exist in the database and currently contain 11 rows each.

I temporarily enabled “Advanced Database Updates” only to inspect the available actions. I did not rerun, reverse, or force any migration, and I disabled the option again afterward.

I have already completed the following checks:

• full database backup
• full site files backup
• resaved WordPress permalinks
• cleared WordPress/plugin cache
• deactivated and reactivated GiveWP
• checked GiveWP logs; no recent MySQL or migration errors are visible apart from the migration status above

Server environment:

• WordPress 6.8.8
• GiveWP 4.16.7.2
• PHP 8.3.31, FPM
• MySQL 8.0.43
• PHP memory limit: 512M
• WordPress max memory: 512M
• PHP time limit: 300 seconds
• MySQL max_allowed_packet: 64 MB
• Database size: approximately 13 MB

Security context:

We recently received multiple automated fake pending donations containing malicious serialized payloads. GiveWP has already been updated to 4.16.7.2.

The filesystem was checked for the files those malicious requests appeared to attempt to create, and those files were not found.

However, migration #47:

Sanitize serialized object payloads from meta tables and sessions

is still Pending because the earlier migrations have not completed.

I am therefore concerned not only about the stuck migration state, but also about ensuring that the security-related cleanup migration is completed correctly.

Could you please advise the safest supported procedure to repair the migration state and complete migrations #35–47 without damaging the existing campaign, donation, and donor data?
