Getting Started with WordPress

    Hello All,

    I am very new to all of this, and really need some assistance! I am responsible for doing weekly updates on my companies website, the site was set up with wordpress and it is very easy to make changes, all I do is log into our wordpress account and make the changes needed.

    I am looking to create another site for a new company that my company is starting up and would like to know how I can go about creating this new site in the same fashion as our existing site. I would like to be able to just log into wordpress via the internet and create.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks for the reply, which version should I start with? I do not have a server, is there a version that I can log into via the internet to create a site on?

    The current version – 3.3.1.

    I do not have a server

    So where do you intend to host this site?

    I plan to host the site with godaddy.com, once I finish creating it

    Unless you want to start running your own local web server, you’ll need to obtain your hosting & domain name now and create your site online.

    ok, not a problem, I will register the domain today, we already use them to host our other site. Can I get access to create the site online through wordpress through godaddy.com?

    You can create a WP site in a few minutes with GoDaddy. If you’re not technical, simply give them a call and they can walk you through the process.

    Thanks, I just registered the domain and will give them a call later today about getting started with creating the site.

    Wait at least 3 days for the new domain name to propagate fully before installing WordPress or you will just give yourself a rather big headache for a while.

    One I get everything in line and am ready, can I purchase a theme templete and incorporate that with the wordpress through godaddy.com?

    Well, you typically wouldn’t purchase a theme through GoDaddy. You can find a theme here or at other sites. It might be a good idea to use a free theme to learn a bit first before purchasing a theme.

    If I buy a theme from here or anywhere else wouldn’t it be in file format? I need to be able to work on the site through the cloud.

    Any theme from http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ will work on a WordPress site. We cannot vouch for themes downloaded, or purchased, from other sites.
